Student Support Program

Mission:
Our mission in Catholic education is to welcome all of God's children, including those with disabilities, into our schools to the maximum extend each can benefit with the resources available.

Vision:
We envision meeting the unique learning needs of each student through an inclusive education rooted in the Catholic faith that embraces the whole person and integrates a multi-tiered system of supports.

Values:
In partnership with our families, we strive to:
  • Connect as a community of faith
  • Work as a team
  • Maximize student learning and meet unique learning needs
  • Utilize student data to inform academic interventions

At North Catholic, our Student Support Program assists students identified through a multidisciplinary evaluation or medical diagnosis. We work as a team to make minor adjustments that enable students with disabilities to participate in the school's educational program. We develop an Instructional Support Plan (ISP) or a Medical Support Plan (MSP) outlining the necessary adjustments, ensuring students have equal access to the school's educational benefits. The Student Support Team meets 1-3 times per year to review the ISP/MSP and individual student goals.  Additionally, students have opportunities for one-on-one and small group instruction to address their individual needs in our Academic Support study halls. Students can work with our faculty members to receive support in organization, study skills, or homework management.  Eligible students may also work with MIU4 staff to receive Act 89 services such as study skills, remedial math, and reading support.
